Asahi

Hmmm… nothing overly philosophical or deep behind the handle aside from its similarity to the tasty import beverage from Japan… oh yah, there’s also a city for the namesake as well but I’m not from there. Far from it! I do enjoy a good beer. Asahi super-dry is crisp with a tasty, smooth finish.

I’ve enjoyed aspects of the Japanese martial arts. I’ve practiced Karate, Aikido, Kendo, Jujitsu and Judo over the years since my early days as a knee-high rugrat. My older cousin Ai-Ai is among my favorite sensei (teachers) who has advanced in several of these “ways” (read: -do as in ken-do, aiki-do, karate-do) far beyond I can dream of.

Still, I like to imagine that maybe I was some samurai or warrior in a past life. I’ve been to Japan only once in my life and whenever I think of that country I get some empty, lonely feeling, as if it was a former home… and now I, as an American live my life as an “exile” or “expatriot” from that homeland.

Bits and Pieces

Whether it the “bits” as in “bits and bytes” or just the “nuts and bolts” of some other real-world machinery, I like to think that a work of art consists of discrete slices of life… documented patiently every day. Hence the spirit of MOTD… it takes a whole lot of parts to make a whole… ;)

Asahi is an IT Professional by trade and by avocation he is obsessed with building, managing and participating online in Internet communities. IRL (In Real Life) you can find him running, tri-athelete-ing (love that verb!) and travelling across the countryside.
